I have a Fuchs Wildcard 100 watt. The amps sound as goods as the OCD line. Here are the pros and cons of this amp.
The amp is solid and PCB board is done very well. A cool thing each power tube and its own bias trim pot.
The tone on the overdrive channel is very well done. Excellent when switching guitars and amp cabs. The tone control can make a bright guitar or cab sound darker/more midrange by rolling the tone off. For a dark cab or guitar the tone can make it brighter by rolling the tone up. Very cool Idea by Fuchs.
The effects loop works by using an insert cable. Two female ends and a stereo TRS 1/4 inch male jack. The loop is solid state and works very well. I have loop box that has volumes for send and return. This makes effects used in the loop have more headroom when using long cable 25ft. However, the loop by itself is also fine without such a box.
Fuchs foot switch that controls the amp overdrive and boost is very solid and the LED light are bright so changing channels is a breeze on dark stages.
The tubes are high quality Ruby tubes.
V2: Ruby JJ83s V3/PI: 12AX7AC5HP
Power Tubes are Ruby 6L6GCWSTR.
The speaker Jacks are done well. 16, 8, 4 ohm, each have 1/4 inch jacks.
Can channel switch the amp with the Fuchs foot switch or by pulling out the master on the Overdrive channel.
Awesome tones from D- style LC and RF to heavy rock.
I had a brite switch added from the factory to the clean channel only; this makes the clean channel more versatile. I also had a 100 watt/50 watt half power switch added that shuts off two tubes. This is good to have when doing live shows in smaller clubs.
The power tube sockets and preamp sockets look like ceramic, however they are very low quality plastic. This means if one wants to swap out preamp tube, must use CATION! Since all preamp tube pins are not the same size. Some preamp tube pins will be thinner, some wider, and some fatter. This cause a huge problem and can cause the tube socket connectors to roll and short out the tubes or cause damage to the amp. Have a tech swap out tubes! The Power tubes sockets are better when replacing tubes. Belton preamp tube and power tube sockets would be an excellent upgrade in the amp.
Hardware is not bad, however a little longer screws would be nice.
The fan is right in the middle of the chassis so when trying to change preamp tubes, you most likely will have to take the chassis out of the Fuchs head box. Understanding that cooling both power tubes and preamp tubes at the same time. However this adds more labor cost for a tech to replace or if you have the pro knowledge will be very time consuming and put wear on the hardware screws.
The Foot switch cable is a good length for short distance, which is very nice. However, if need a long cable run will need to use a stereo extension stereo cable.
The Fuchs Wildcard 100 is a very versatile amp, excellent tones, need a few upgrades to make is a great amp.
